Draft for launch review · Last updated 27 August 2026
1. Who this policy is for
This policy applies to the Fishling website and Fishling app. Fishling is a UK-focused fishing product designed for beginners, families and children using the service with an adult or guardian where appropriate.
2. Information you may provide
Depending on the features you use, this can include an email address, display name, catch details, species, date and time, notes, tackle or method information, optional catch location, and photographs that you choose to add.
3. Local use and accounts
You can begin using Fishling without an account. Local app data is stored on your device. If you create an account, Fishling may sync eligible app data to our cloud service so it can be restored or used across devices.
4. Children and family profiles
Fishling does not require a child to have a separate independent email account for the planned launch experience. Child or family profiles are managed under an adult or guardian account where cloud features are used.
5. Catch photos and storage
Photos are used to show your catch and create Catch Cards. Where cloud sync is enabled, selected catch photos can be stored in private cloud storage associated with your account. They are not intended to be publicly accessible by default.
6. Location information
If you choose to add a location to a catch, it is used to support your own catch log and related app features. Exact catch locations are not intended to be made public by default.
7. Service providers
Fishling uses third-party infrastructure to operate the service. At launch this includes Netlify for website/app hosting and Supabase for account authentication, database services and private file storage. These providers process data only as needed to provide their services to Fishling.
8. What we do not do
We do not sell personal information to advertisers. The launch website is not designed around behavioural advertising or third-party advertising cookies.
9. Keeping information secure
We use access controls, private storage rules and encrypted HTTPS connections. No online system can be guaranteed to be risk-free, so we also try to minimise the amount of personal information the service needs.
10. Your choices and rights
You can choose not to create an account and use local features instead. UK data protection law may also give you rights to access, correct, delete or restrict certain personal information. Contact us if you want help with an account or data request.
11. Changes to this policy
If Fishling adds material new features — for example public sharing, competitions, a shop or analytics — this policy will be reviewed and updated before those features are relied upon.
12. Contact
Our branded Fishling email address is being set up as part of launch. Until that is complete, use the details on the contact page.
